Benefits of CBD for athletes
CBD is one of the 100 cannabinoids that cannabis produces. CBD, unlike THC, does not cause dizziness or “get you high” as it focuses on active substances that have positive effects on the body.
On the other hand, THC does have a psychoactive component that alters our body. CBD is a natural compound of plant origin on which more and more studies are coming out over the years on the benefits of this component for athletes.
CBD in sport:
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) decided in 2018 to remove CBD from the list of prohibited substances for professional athletes. This was followed by the major leagues of major sports in the United States as well as the International Athletics Federation. In fact, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have been the first Olympic Games where CBD has been able to have a presence without any problem.
Of course, professional athletes must make sure and be very rigorous with the products they buy, so that they cannot test positive for THC or other cannabinoids. There are many famous athletes who have expressed the use of CBD sports balms in their daily lives.
What are the benefits of CBD in sports?
There are pre-clinical experiences and trials that seem to indicate the following possible benefits of CBD in sports.
-Strengthens the immune system: As a complement to a healthy life and diet, it helps the body to remain in optimal conditions and have greater resistance to diseases and/or stress.
-Improves recovery: It is not an amino acid but acts on the pain suffered when recovering. Its anti-inflammatory effect helps the process to be faster. It can increase the pain threshold and improve the situation with respect to muscle tension and cramps.
-Helps sleep: By providing peace of mind, rest arrives earlier and is more optimal.
-Reduces stress and anxiety: It will allow the athlete to continue with their workouts without stress and/or anxiety affecting their body.
-Balances the endocannabinoid system: This causes resistance to increase.
